The same verb could also be translated “removed” (see L&N 15.200), although that sense appears somewhat redundant and out of sequence with the following verb and participle (“carried him out and buried him”).

[5:6]  4 sn Buried. Same day burial was a custom in the Jewish world of the first century (cf. also Deut 21:23).

[7:18]  5 tn Or simply “did not know.” However, in this context the point is that the new king knew nothing about Joseph, not whether he had known him personally (which is the way “did not know Joseph” could be understood).

[7:18]  6 tn Grk “arose,” but in this context it clearly refers to a king assuming power.
